Filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe is developing a two-part documentary titled "The Fall," which investigates the ambiguous, unresolved finale of Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 classic "Vertigo." The project, unveiled on 22 July 2026 at the Frontières market during Montreal's Fantasia festival, has already secured high-profile "witnesses" including Guillermo del Toro, Kim Novak and Ari Aster, and is being positioned to launch alongside "Vertigo's" 70th anniversary in 2028.

The documentary is produced by Medianoche Productions with France's Tell Me Films and Thunderbug Productions, reuniting the team behind Philippe's 2025 film "Kim Novak's Vertigo." A pre-sale to French broadcaster Cine+ is already in place, and producers are now seeking an international sales agent and financing partners at Fantasia, with roughly a year of production remaining. The title refers to the moment Judy falls to her death from the belltower in "Vertigo," a sequence Hitchcock never explicitly shows, and Philippe says the film aims to "inhabit" rather than solve this mystery by gathering differing personal interpretations from each interviewee.
