The Guardian's review of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, a feature-length continuation of Nickelodeon's beloved animated series, finds it an engaging watch that works for both longtime fans and newcomers. Paramount originally planned a theatrical release for the sequel before delaying it and switching to a direct-to-streaming model on Paramount+, after which the film was leaked online ahead of its debut. It will now get only a token two-city cinema run, timed to coincide with its streaming launch so it can qualify for this year's Oscars. Set years after the TV series, the story reunites grown-up versions of Aang (voiced by Eric Nam), Katara, Toph, Zuko and Sokka, alongside newcomer Tagah (Dave Bautista), as they race to stop a hostile faction called The Denied from seizing an ancient artefact, with the review praising its hand-drawn and computer-animated visual style.
