Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled its 2026 "Back to Hogwarts" celebrations, marking the 25th anniversary of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" with global events centred on 1 September, the date students traditionally return to Hogwarts in the stories. The programme includes a theatrical re-release of the first film with previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage, alongside new promotional glimpses of the upcoming HBO Original television series, underlining how the franchise continues to be leveraged across cinema, streaming and live events a quarter-century after its debut.

The anniversary re-release features 12 minutes of new behind-the-scenes footage, while all eight "Harry Potter" films will screen in cinemas worldwide from 27 August to 3 September. HBO Max is holding its first-ever Back to Hogwarts fan event in London on 1 September to build anticipation for the new series' Christmas debut, though WBD has said there will be no official event at King's Cross Station and is asking fans not to travel there. Further celebrations are planned in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Australia and Japan, including a large-scale wand lesson at Versailles, screenings in Venice and events in Madrid, Sydney and Berlin, plus theme park activities at Universal Orlando, Universal Studios Hollywood, Japan and Beijing running from August into September.
