Sheffield United are set to receive a financial windfall after former academy striker Will Lankshear completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Middlesbrough. The payment stems from a sell-on clause agreed when the Blades sold him to Spurs in 2022, providing useful funds during their summer rebuilding work.

Middlesbrough’s deal for the 21-year-old is reported to be worth £10 million initially and could rise to £20 million through add-ons. Sheffield United are understood to hold a 20% sell-on clause, potentially worth up to £4 million, while Tottenham have retained their own future sell-on clause and matching rights. Lankshear scored 12 goals in 46 appearances on loan at Oxford United last season.
