Deezer has confirmed that AI-generated tracks now account for more than half of all music uploaded to the platform each day, a milestone that marks the first time human-made music has been outnumbered by AI alternatives on the service. The shift underscores the rapid growth of AI music tools and has intensified concerns across the industry about fraud, payment dilution and the erosion of income for human artists and songwriters, prompting Deezer to strengthen its efforts to detect and demonetise such content.

The figure has climbed sharply from 28 per cent in September 2025 to 44 per cent in April 2026, and now stands at around 90,000 AI-generated tracks uploaded daily, over half of the platform's total. Despite this volume, AI content still makes up less than three per cent of actual listening time. Deezer chief executive Alexis Lanternier said the company would take further steps to protect artists' rights, and the platform has also rolled out AI-detection tools covering playlists from 20 streaming services. Other platforms are responding similarly: TIDAL has stopped paying royalties on fully AI-made music, Spotify has removed 75 million "spammy tracks" and targeted impersonators, and Apple Music now flags AI-made content to listeners.
