Starfield Modder is Trying to Make The Game’s Spaceship Take-Offs as Seamless as Possible, But Admits Landings ‘Probably Won’t Ever Happen’

IGN · 6 hours ago

A Starfield modder is developing a mod to remove the jarring loading screen that appears when spaceships take off from a planet's surface, aiming to replicate the seamless flight experience of games like No Man's Sky. The disjointed take-off and landing sequences have long been one of the most criticised aspects of Bethesda's space RPG, and while the developer has previously improved in-system flight, fans have wanted a fully seamless experience since launch.

The "Seamless Planet Takeoffs" mod, created by 0xBobby, removes the loading screen on take-off by spawning the ship above the landing site and switching to a first-person cockpit view to disguise the transition. The creator, however, says a matching fix for seamless landings is unlikely, calling it far more technically complex and stating "the chances of it happening are pretty much zero." The news comes as Bethesda works on The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5, while confirming Starfield's Starborn DLC is still planned for 2027 amid recent Xbox layoffs.
