Marvel Officially Brings Hulk, Punisher, and Spider-Man Together Ahead of Schedule

Collider · 4 hours ago

Ahead of the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel Comics has published a tie-in comic bringing together Spider-Man, the Hulk and the Punisher, mirroring the film's own team-up between the three characters. The film, which opens in cinemas next week, sees Tom Holland's Peter Parker seek help from Bruce Banner and Frank Castle when his powers begin to malfunction and a new threat emerges, only for a villain to turn the Hulk against them both. The comic release effectively lets fans see this dynamic play out on the page before the trio's big-screen debut together.

The new series, Spider-Man: Long Way Home, is set in an alternate continuity where the Punisher has yet to become the character fans know and the Hulk remains largely a rumour, while the rogue agency A.I.M. has created a Cosmic Cube that both Castle and Banner want to control. In the newly previewed second issue, Spider-Man, working for S.H.I.E.L.D., must retrieve the Cube from Frank Castle after his squad's mission against Hydra and A.I.M. forces ends with a deadly encounter with the Hulk. Agent Quartermain briefs Peter on the dangers of both men, noting Castle's wiped record and uncertain loyalties alongside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s scant knowledge of the Hulk, setting up a tense race to secure the artefact before it falls into the wrong hands.

  • Marvel comic pairs Spider-Man, Hulk and Punisher ahead of new film's cinema release.
  • Long Way Home issue #2 follows Spidey's hunt for a powerful Cosmic Cube.
  • Storyline echoes Brand New Day's own Hulk-Punisher-Spider-Man team-up.
