Electronic Arts has named French footballer Kylian Mbappé as the cover athlete for "EA Sports FC 27," marking his return to the franchise after a four-year absence. The choice follows a standout period for Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid in 2024 and recently broke Lionel Messi's all-time World Cup goal-scoring record after netting his 22nd tournament goal.

Mbappé will feature on the "FC 27" Ultimate Edition and the game's mobile version, with both Mbappé and EA Sports FC vice-president Jeff Sharma issuing statements welcoming his return. A trailer for the game is set to be revealed on Thursday, 23 July, at 9am PT.
