Prime Video has announced that its long-awaited documentary about Brazilian singer Marília Mendonça, titled "Sentimento Louco", will premiere on the platform on 16 October. The film revisits the life of the sertanejo star, who died in a plane crash in 2021 aged 26, and arrives as filming also begins on a separate biographical feature about her. Amazon is developing a wider slate of projects around Mendonça's story, reflecting her enduring cultural impact and status as a trailblazer for women in Brazil's country-influenced sertanejo genre.

The documentary draws on an extensive archive of 530,000 images and 50,000 videos, along with personal notes and messages, to uncover previously unknown aspects of Mendonça's life and career, with contributions from friends, family and colleagues. It is produced by Chatrone and Kromaki and directed by Susanna Lira, while the accompanying feature film, from Amazon MGM Studios, stars breakout actress Marina Versos in the title role and began shooting this month. Amazon is also building out a broader "Marília-verse", including sponsorship of a São Paulo exhibition dedicated to the singer and promotion through its Amazon Music service.
