Two new instalments of the Neil Young tribute series Heart of Gold are due to feature covers by artists including MJ Lenderman, Ben Gibbard, Modest Mouse, Kurt Vile and Lucinda Williams. The releases matter because their proceeds will support the Bridge School, a California organisation serving children with extensive speech and physical disabilities.

Volume 2, Out of the Blue, includes My Morning Jacket, Ann Wilson, Los Lobos and Peter Frampton, while Volume 3, Into the Black, features 12 further tracks. Newly released previews are King Princess’ version of “Helpless” and Draco Rosa’s “After the Gold Rush”; other notable covers include Lenderman’s “Separate Ways”, Gibbard’s “Don’t Cry No Tears” and Modest Mouse with Califone on “Barstool Blues”.
