Disney+ has confirmed a new documentary on actress Julie Andrews, directed and produced by R.J. Cutler (known for "Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry" and "Martha"), with an official title and release date to follow but a launch planned for 2027. The project promises an intimate portrait of Andrews' life and career, drawing on previously unseen archival material alongside new interviews, and matters as a rare in-depth look at one of Hollywood's most enduring stars beyond her famous screen roles.

The film traces Andrews' path from her early years in British vaudeville to global stardom in films such as "Mary Poppins", "The Sound of Music" and "The Princess Diaries", framing her story around themes of resilience, heartbreak, reinvention and grace. It is produced by Cutler with Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein, Jane Cha Cutler and Jonathan Ruane, with Mark Blatty as executive producer, via Sony Pictures Television's This Machine. Cutler described Andrews as "a cultural touchstone" whose lesser-known struggles will be explored in the film, saying he was "humbled by her talent" and "in awe of her strength" after being given close access to her reflections.
