AI-focused YouTuber Zack London, known as Gossip Goblin, is bringing his AI-generated anthology film "Gods Don't Give Gifts" to cinemas for a limited release, in what he describes as an experiment testing whether online audiences will pay to see AI-made work on the big screen. The four-part anthology explores humanity's attempts to overcome limitations such as death and memory through technology. The move follows a wider trend of YouTubers-turned-filmmakers moving into cinemas, though London insists his aim is not to compete with Hollywood but to prove AI can be used to tell stories that would otherwise be too costly or unconventional to greenlight.

The film is due to screen on 30 October, produced with Fable, an AI studio backed by Amazon's Alexa Fund and led by chief executive Edward Saatchi. An initial run is planned in cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, with London hoping to draw on his 1.4 million YouTube subscribers to boost screening numbers, working with an as-yet-unnamed distributor. Saatchi said the project is not about box office returns but about demonstrating that AI-made work belongs in cinemas, following the success of other YouTuber-directed films such as "Obsession" and "Backrooms", which have together grossed more than $800 million worldwide.
