Bloomberg reports that Apple is preparing a broad wave of Mac updates over the next couple of years, extending well beyond the previously rumoured OLED touchscreen for the MacBook Pro. Nearly all of Apple's laptop and desktop lines are due for chip upgrades and, in some cases, design overhauls, suggesting a significant refresh cycle for the Mac range rather than a single standout product change. This matters for anyone considering a Mac purchase, as the timing and scale of these updates could affect both performance and pricing decisions.

The nearest changes are an updated iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro this autumn, gaining M5 and M6 chip bumps respectively, while a new MacBook Neo is expected with the A19 Pro chip, more RAM and new colours. Between autumn and early 2027, Apple is reportedly planning a "MacBook Ultra" with M5 Pro/Max chips, an OLED touchscreen and revised macOS interface elements, followed in 2027 by updated MacBook Airs, plus new Mac Mini and Mac Studio models depending on supply. A fully redesigned 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M7 chip is also in development, with OLED screens gradually spreading across the range starting with the iPad Mini. Given Apple already raised Mac prices in June 2025 and memory chips remain in high demand, further price increases alongside these upgrades cannot be ruled out.
