Courtney Stodden has responded to Jason Alexander's public apology for a 2012 Funny or Die sketch by saying he has still not apologised to her privately, and has instead called on him to back a campaign against child marriage. The "Seinfeld" actor had said he "completely" agreed the sketch, in which he rubbed a mobile phone against Stodden's breasts while she was 17, was "inappropriate", and that he was "deeply sorry" for any harm caused. Stodden welcomed the public gesture but said "meaningful action would be even more powerful", asking Alexander to support Unchained At Last's push for California's AB 1267 bill to end child marriage.

In an accompanying Instagram post, Stodden shared a photo from the sketch and described Alexander repeatedly rubbing his phone across her chest while making sexual remarks, including a joke about what he would do with her once she turned 18. She noted IMDb credits him as a co-writer of the episode, and said that as a minor she had no legal power to consent to the filming, having been married at 16 to actor Doug Hutchison, then 51. She used the post to argue that stronger legal protections are needed for children in the entertainment industry.
