Travis Scott has revealed how director Christopher Nolan personally persuaded him to take an acting role in his new film The Odyssey, describing feeling "nervous as f" once he realised the calibre of his co-stars. Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the rapper recalled Nolan calling him directly to pitch the part, initially surprising Scott, who questioned why a filmmaker would want a musician in his cast. The moment matters as another example of Nolan casting musicians in unconventional acting roles, continuing a working relationship the pair began years earlier.

Scott plays Demodocus, the bard who opens the film by narrating Odysseus's journey, making him the first face and voice audiences encounter. He said he hadn't expected to be acting alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, but praised Nolan and the cast for putting him at ease. Nolan, who previously worked with Scott on the Tenet soundtrack in 2020, told Time magazine he cast the rapper to draw a parallel between oral poetry traditions and rap. Scott also contributed an original closing-credits song, "When I'm Home," with James Blake and composer Ludwig Göransson; The Odyssey is now in cinemas.
