UK recorded music exports passed £800 million for the first time in 2025, according to figures from the BPI, as breakthrough international successes from artists including Olivia Dean, Yungblud and Sleep Token helped drive growth. The milestone underscores the continuing global reach of British music, though industry leaders cautioned that the pace of expansion is slowing and warned of the need for sustained investment to keep UK acts competitive abroad.

Exports reached £800.3 million in 2025, up 0.8% on the previous year's £794.2 million and 50% higher than in 2020. Olivia Dean's single "Man I Need" was a standout success, reaching the US Hot 100 Top 10 and topping the Australian chart for 21 weeks, one of the country's longest-ever runs, while Lola Young, PinkPantheress, Sleep Token and others also broke through internationally. The US remained the largest market at around £328 million, though it dipped slightly, while Asia (up 7.7%) and Europe (up 2.7%) posted the strongest growth; BPI chief executive Dr Jo Twist said the slowdown highlighted the need for continued export support.
