The Locarno Film Festival will host the world premiere of "Brave New Love," a new feature from writer-director Maria Bäck exploring infidelity, motherhood and the unspoken rules attached to love. The film follows Kate, a hypnotherapist who appears happily married to husband Orla while secretly maintaining a romantic relationship with another man, Andreas, forcing her to confront the unravelling of her double life while acting as a role model to her young daughter.

The film stars Kathrine Thorborg Johansen as Kate, Simon Sears as Orla, and Anders Danielsen Lie as Andreas, with Noemi Carbone Mannov and Angeliki Papoulia also featured. It will screen in the international competition at the 79th Locarno Film Festival, premiering on 9 August, with Bäck describing her aim to examine "absurd" societal expectations around love through wit and sensuality; The Hollywood Reporter has released an exclusive clip ahead of the premiere.
