Travis Scott has revealed that Oasis was among the influences shaping his upcoming album, the follow-up to 2023's "Utopia". Speaking to Variety, the Houston rapper said he was pushing himself to try new sonics, and also namechecked Parliament, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, Daft Punk and Van Halen as reference points for the record.

Scott said Van Halen's "mega-choruses and hard bass lines" were a particular touchstone, while his touring experience was pushing him to make live shows feel more theatrical, aiming to reach fans at the back of the arena as effectively as those at the front. He noted that "Utopia" was originally conceived as a play, and said he wants to "bring back true experiences" rather than let everything become digital. The update comes as Scott also appears as an actor in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey", having previously collaborated with the director on Tenet's "The Plan" and now contributing the end-credits song "When I'm Home" alongside James Blake and Ludwig Göransson.
