The German-language drama "Oasis," written and directed by Jannis Lenz, has been picked up for international sales by Totem ahead of its world premiere in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival. The film explores fear, exclusion and violence among teenagers, marking a notable acquisition as Totem broadens its sales slate even as the company shifts its main focus towards production.

The story follows a school thrown into turmoil after a video of a student threatening classmates goes viral, triggering escalating violence; three outcast pupils, worn down by pressure from teachers and parents, retreat to a nearby forest where their games turn ritualistic and painful before old wounds resurface. The cast includes newcomer Florian Geißelmann and established actor Godehard Giese, alongside rising German performers Anton Petzold and Mathilda Smith. It is produced by Germany's Zeitgeist Filmproduktion FFM with Austria's Wega Film and Germany's Third Picture, and backed by several German and Austrian film funding bodies. Lenz, a Vienna Film Academy graduate mentored by Jessica Hausner and a former assistant to Michael Haneke, previously won awards for his short "Wannabe" and his graduation film "Soldat Ahmet."
