Charli XCX has released Music, Fashion, Film, an 11-track album written rapidly after inspiration struck during a planned break following the success of Brat. The guitar-led record is a deliberate attempt to avoid repeating her previous dance-pop sound, while reflecting on the intense two years that followed its release.

Despite being described by some as a rock reinvention, Charli says the album does not reject electronic or club music, which she sees as central to her identity. Its black-and-white cover features John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese, with the three figures representing music, fashion and film, and the album’s themes of artistic excellence and legacy.
