Boston has officially designated 24 July 2026 as Passion Pit Day, marking 20 years since Michael Angelakos began the indie electronic pop project while associated with Emerson College. The recognition coincides with the band’s anniversary Pretty Penny Tour and a concert at Boston’s House of Blues, highlighting the city’s role in the group’s early development.

The Boston City Council passed a resolution praising Passion Pit’s influence on the indie electronic pop genre and celebrating its 20th-anniversary tour. Angelakos, now 39, said Boston had supported the project’s rise and shaped its musical identity; Passion Pit’s debut EP, *Chunk of Change*, was released in 2008.
