U2 have released “Fireflies”, a new collaboration with Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix. The release marks another move towards electronic production for the band, whose earlier late-1990s experiment with dance music on Pop was short-lived, and comes amid a renewed run of new material from U2.

Garrix previously produced U2’s “Scars” and worked with Bono and the Edge on the 2021 UEFA European Championship song “We Are The People”. The Edge joined Garrix onstage at Tomorrowland earlier this month to debut “Fireflies”; the track is now available via Darkroom and features restrained festival-EDM elements, with Bono’s heavily Auto-Tuned vocals and the Edge’s recognisable guitar sound.
