Orville Peck has announced Mule, his fourth studio album, alongside a 19-date North American autumn tour. The announcement matters because the album is described as a personal examination of addiction, sobriety and rebuilding his life, delivered through country, bluegrass and Americana influences.

Mule will be released by Warner Records on 18 September, preceded by the lead single “Too Little, Too Late”, co-written with Dan Wilson and Steve Rusch and produced by Jay Joyce. The Man Turned Mule Tour runs from 28 October in Sacramento to 22 November in Huntington, New York, with Abbie Callahan supporting; $1 from every ticket sold will go to LGBTQ+ youth charity The Trevor Project.
