Xtra Technology has halted preorders for its Muse 2 Pro camera and will refund the $20 deposits already collected, saying it cannot provide a reliable launch timetable. The decision matters because Xtra sells cameras widely seen as rebranded DJI products, while US regulators are increasing scrutiny of firms allegedly helping DJI technology remain on the American market after restrictions on the Chinese manufacturer.

The company removed the Muse 2 Pro from its landing page only days after showing it at a Los Angeles event and has not committed to launching it later. The FCC proposed $25,000 fines on Xtra and suppliers linked to drone brand Skyrover on 10 July over unanswered sourcing questions, then proposed restrictions on their existing sales on 17 July; FCC approvals previously associated with Xtra’s version of the camera have also disappeared from public search results. Xtra continues to sell its other cameras for now.
