Nike is releasing an Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Comic’ edition, updating the model first launched in 1989 with comic-book-inspired styling. The launch coincides with San Diego Comic-Con and underlines the continuing commercial appeal of Michael Jordan’s signature footwear range across generations.

The unisex trainers go on sale through Nike.com on Saturday 25 July at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (7 a.m. Pacific Time) for $230. They feature off-white, anthracite and fire-pink colours, leather materials, superhero-style Jumpman branding, heel Nike Air logos and visible Air cushioning; children’s sizes will start at $90.
