Pamela Anderson is promoting “Rosebush Pruning”, a deliberately disturbing black comedy about a wealthy incestuous family, which she says is intended to unsettle audiences and expose the moral decay of the super-rich. The film matters as the latest step in Anderson’s critically acclaimed career resurgence, following her documentary, awards recognition for “The Last Showgirl” and a well-received turn in “The Naked Gun”.

Directed by Karim Aïnouz and written by Efthimis Filippou, the film also stars Tracy Letts, Callum Turner, Jamie Bell, Lukas Gage, Riley Keough and Elle Fanning. Anderson plays the family’s mother, believed by her relatives to have been eaten by wolves, while the story uses extreme sexual and familial dysfunction as a satirical commentary on fascism and privilege. At 59, Anderson has four films due over the next year and says she enjoys taking risks rather than seeking universal approval.
