Sony has confirmed that Santa Monica Studio is developing a new God of War game starring Kratos, intended to continue the story after the forthcoming Laufey. The announcement signals that the studio is planning a connected future for the series, with elements of Laufey expected to establish the direction of Kratos’s next adventure.

Head of Creative Cory Barlog revealed the project at San Diego Comic-Con, where Sony also confirmed that Laufey will launch on 16 February 2027. Barlog said the Faye-focused game builds on earlier entries while setting up future developments, and highlighted Phranque, the talking cube character, as part of that wider world-building. Santa Monica is also remaking the original Greek trilogy internally; no release date, platform or further details for the new Kratos game were announced.
