Scott Hendricks, a veteran country music producer and A&R executive, was born 70 years ago today, on 26 July 1956, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He is best known for shaping the sound of modern country radio, having produced acts including Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill, Keith Urban and Blake Shelton, and for playing a key role in signing and developing major talent across several record labels.

Hendricks grew up on a farm before studying at Oklahoma State University, where connections led him into the recording industry and a partnership with songwriter Tim Dubois, yielding his first number one with Restless Heart. He went on to produce for Arista Nashville and later oversaw signings at Capitol Records, before becoming Warner Nashville's Executive Vice President of A&R in 2014. Over his career he has produced 78 number one country singles and more than 120 top ten hits, including 25 chart-toppers for Blake Shelton, and was inducted into both the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame (2015) and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame (2021).
