Podcast producer Atypical Artists has cast Daniel J. Kim ("Cobra Kai") and Danielle Kennedy ("The 'Burbs") in "Drive Thru Magic," a new scripted gay romance podcast written and directed by Briggon Snow ("The Bright Sessions"), Variety reports exclusively. The series marks the latest fiction project from Atypical Artists, the audio studio behind titles including "The Bright Sessions" and the Netflix "Stranger Things" spinoff "Rebel Robin: Surviving Hawkins," and will premiere in September on all major podcast platforms.

The story follows two men who connect through repeated encounters at a roadside drive-thru, with Kim voicing pre-med student Louie and Snow himself playing Gabe, a young man caring for his grandmother as she experiences dementia. Kennedy joins as Barb, a blunt drive-thru veteran and Louie's closest friend. Snow said the show, in development since 2024, draws on personal experiences of grief woven into a love story, with executive producer Lauren Shippen praising the writing's emotional depth. Recording wrapped in Los Angeles this summer, with episodes set to launch on 7 September.
