A well-loved nurse and mother died after a man allegedly fleeing the scene of a stabbing deliberately swerved his car into hers on a road in Tasmania. The victim, Elaine Gee, was described by loved ones as being simply in the "wrong place at the wrong time" when she was struck, in a case that has shocked the local community and raised concerns about the danger posed to bystanders during police pursuits and violent domestic incidents.

Police allege the man had stabbed his girlfriend before fleeing the scene by car, later crashing deliberately into Gee's vehicle near Launceston, close to Exeter. She was taken to Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries but later died.
