King Charles ‘will offer Prince Harry a room at Buckingham Palace when he returns to the UK in the coming weeks’

Daily Mail · 3 hours ago

King Charles is reportedly set to offer Prince Harry a room at Buckingham Palace when the Duke of Sussex next returns to Britain, following a mix-up that saw a previous offer withdrawn. Harry did not stay at the palace during a visit earlier this month after he was said to have taken too long to respond to the King's original invitation, prompting confusion and a public dispute between the two camps over how the offer was handled.

According to The Sun, Harry, 41, has now accepted a fresh offer well in advance of his planned trip to the UK in September for events linked to the WellChild Awards; it is not yet known whether his wife Meghan or their children, Archie and Lilibet, will accompany him. Palace sources said Harry's failure to respond in time to the earlier offer, despite having several weeks' notice, meant the necessary staffing and hospitality arrangements could not be put in place, while Harry's spokesman had accused the Palace of withdrawing the offer "at the last moment". Harry is said to remain frustrated that he must give three weeks' notice for UK visits, which are assessed case by case, rather than receiving automatic round-the-clock police protection.
