Police hunt darts match attacker in lobster suit

BBC Sport · 5 hours ago

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are searching for a man dressed in a lobster costume who is suspected of seriously assaulting another man outside Alexandra Palace in north London after a World Darts Championship match. The victim, a man in his twenties, was punched and knocked unconscious and is still suffering "significant injuries" seven months on, prompting police to release CCTV footage in an appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened at around 16:30 GMT on 13 December, when the victim left the venue and got into an argument with a group of men in lobster costumes, who were separated from him by security staff. Shortly afterwards, he encountered the group again on the concourse, where one of the men punched him and knocked him out; he later reported the assault to police. Detective Constable Lizzie Coster, who is leading the investigation, said the suspect's distinctive costume may help attendees or others in the area recall the incident.
