A high-quality pirated copy of Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey circulated on Elon Musk's X platform over the weekend, with a post alerting users to the leak racking up more than three million views before the hosting account was suspended. Universal said it had "immediately initiated takedown protocols" upon becoming aware of the unauthorised posting and would "pursue all appropriate remedies" to protect its intellectual property.

Despite the leak, the film's box office performance appears unaffected: global takings have climbed to $640m after a further $87m was taken in the US over its second weekend, a 30% drop from its opening but still a strong showing in the world's biggest cinema market. The episode comes amid ongoing friction between Musk, who has repeatedly criticised the film's casting choices – including Lupita Nyong'o as Helen of Troy – and Nolan, who has dismissed such pre-release criticism as irrelevant; Musk has said he plans to use his Grok Imagine AI tool to produce his own "historically accurate" version of Homer's epic.
