Identical Roper twins win gymnastics bronze medals

BBC Sport · 5 hours ago

Twins Emily and Abigail Roper both won bronze medals for Wales in gymnastics at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, doing so within a couple of hours of each other. It marks the first gymnastics medals for Team Wales at these Games and a notable personal achievement for the sisters, who competed in separate apparatus finals on the same afternoon.

Abigail took third in the women's vault, with Emily following soon after by finishing third in the uneven bars, having earlier placed fourth in the vault. Australia's Kate McDonald won vault gold ahead of Canada's Ellie Black in silver, while fellow Welsh gymnast Jemima Taylor, competing in place of Ruby Evans, finished seventh. The results take Wales's overall medal tally in Glasgow to six — five bronze and one silver.
