The resolution is spearheaded by Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks of New York, the senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, alongside fellow Democrats Jim McGovern, Gabe Amo and Pramila Jayapal. It alleges that President Trump is violating federal law through the ongoing US conflict with Iran and seeks to compel Speaker Johnson to pursue legal action against the administration. Massie, a long-standing critic of Trump's Iran policy, has separately argued that the war has "significantly weakened" America for the benefit of Israel.
