Footage of the exchange went viral, prompting the fan, identified as Gabrielle Cheyenne, to publicly defend herself against online criticism, saying she had no regrets about the encounter.

Cheyenne said she and her mother had been given floor seats before being moved to VIP by the tour's team, and insisted she had wanted to be pulled on stage during Chris Brown's set rather than Usher's. She said she had faced harassment while leaving the stadium afterwards but did not feel embarrassed by what happened. Usher has not publicly commented, and Billboard said it had contacted him for a response; the tour continues with shows in Birmingham, Alabama, on 28 July and Syracuse, New York, on 1 August.
