Apple has released iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS 26.6, which are likely the final substantive updates before the launch of the next major operating systems, expected in September. The releases focus almost entirely on bug fixes and security patches rather than new features, as Apple is instead laying groundwork for iOS 27 and macOS 27, whose headline addition will be a revamped, AI-driven Siri using large language models.

The updates include minor fixes and a significant security haul, with macOS 26.6 alone addressing more than 150 vulnerabilities; Apple also issued macOS 14.8.8 and 15.7.8 for older Macs with similar security fixes. Notably, iOS and iPadOS 26.6 "optimise the Spotlight index" ahead of iOS 27, pre-loading data for a more capable search feature, while a new (undocumented) alert now warns users when they reach the limit on blocked contacts. Apple has not confirmed a release date for iOS or macOS 27, though it has historically launched major updates in autumn.
