Netflix has confirmed full details of the awards-qualifying theatrical rollout for "Possible Love", the new film from Korean director Lee Chang-dong, his first in eight years. The film will open in Korean cinemas on 23 September, followed by Australia on 22 October and the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Japan on 23 October, before streaming globally on Netflix from 6 November — a staggered release designed to make it eligible for the Best International Feature category at next year's Academy Awards and other honours.

The ensemble drama, financed by Netflix as an original, stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong, and follows two married couples whose lives intersect after a documentary filmmaker sets out to film them, exposing hidden tensions in both marriages. It will premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival and has also been selected for the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival, both taking place this year.
