‘Saturday Night Live UK’ Stars Emma Sidi & Jack Shep To Join Sky & NBCU For Edinburgh TV Festival Masterclass

Deadline · 4 hours ago

Sky and NBCUniversal's Universal Studio Group will bring cast members from "Saturday Night Live UK" to the Edinburgh TV Festival for a masterclass session, marking part of a new comedy-focused programming track called Funny Business. The panel, featuring stars Emma Sidi and Jack Shep alongside writers, producers and commissioners, builds on the successful first season of the UK adaptation of the American sketch show. The session is notable as it comes during the festival's 51st and final edition before it relocates to Greater Manchester in 2027, a move that has divided industry opinion.

The masterclass, taking place on Friday, 28 August at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, will include Sky's Executive Director of Unscripted Originals Phil Edgar Jones, SNL UK lead producer James Longman, head writer Daran "Jonno" Johnson, director Liz Clare, and head of wigs and make-up Kevin Fortune, alongside Sidi and Shep. Funny Business is supported by Universal Studio Group, parent company of SNL UK co-producer Universal Alternative Television Studios, and follows on from a comedy showcase launched three years ago by the festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and USG. Access to the Funny Business track costs £99 (about $130) plus VAT, and the announcement follows separate news that plans are already under way for a new television festival to remain in Edinburgh after the main event departs.
