Carín León tops nine nominations for first European Premios Juventud

TelevisaUnivision has published the full nominations list for the 23rd Premios Juventud awards, confirming Carín León as the leading nominee with nine nods, ahead of Beéle, Kany García and Rauw Alejandro on seven each. The ceremony, taking place on 3 September at the Starlite Amphitheater in Marbella, Spain, marks the first time the awards have been held in Europe, forming the centrepiece of the week-long PJ Fest celebration of Latin culture.

Artists including Eladio Carrión, Farruko, Karol G, Manuel Turizo, Ovy On The Drums, Quevedo, Romeo Santos, Shakira and Xavi each picked up six nominations, with categories spanning female and male artist of the year, favourite group or duo, new-generation talent, favourite track and album of the year. PJ Fest runs from 29 August across cities including Miami, Houston and Los Angeles, with performers such as Jay Wheeler, Piso 21, Morat and Calle y Poché confirmed. Public voting opens on 10 August via the event's website, and the ceremony will broadcast on Univision, UniMás, Galavisión, YouTube and ViX at 7pm ET in the US, and on Canal 5 in Mexico.
