US streamer MGM+ has acquired the six-part action thriller "Embassy" for American audiences, alongside a slate of other territories including Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Argentina. Led by Anna Kendrick as an American diplomat caught up in a hostage crisis at the US embassy in London, the series brings together a high-profile cast and production team, positioning it as a flagship "cinematic" thriller for MGM+'s push into prestige drama.

Created and written by Rom Lotan, "Embassy" also stars Sam Heughan as Kendrick's British ex-fiancé and SAS soldier, and J.K. Simmons as the US ambassador, with John Strickland and Christian Alvart directing. The plot follows diplomat Layla, who must choose between protecting the ambassador and exfiltrating a high-value asset when armed mercenaries storm the embassy, all while a wider conspiracy unfolds. Filmed in Cologne and London, the show had already been sold to Prime Video for the UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand, and to ZDF for Germany, with production handled by AGC Television, Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios.
