Progressive metal pioneers Savatage performed at the Amphitheater of Pompeii in Italy on 27 July 2026, backed live by a 40-piece orchestra for what the band has described as a likely once-in-a-lifetime performance at the historic Roman venue. The show featured extensively reworked arrangements put together by guitarist and Trans-Siberian Orchestra music director Al Pitrelli alongside vocalist Jon Oliva, and band members have indicated plans to professionally film and record the concert for future release.

The 25-song setlist, running to nearly two hours, included several rarities such as "Overture" (played for the first time since 1996) and "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)" (first performed since 2015), alongside an orchestral rendition of Albinoni and Giazotto's "Adagio In G Minor". Bassist Johnny Lee Middleton and guitarist Chris Caffery both spoke of the show's significance in recent interviews, with Caffery confirming the band arrived only the day before and played at the venue for just one day, describing the experience as something he expects will "go by so quick" despite months of preparation.
