Games Workshop has confirmed that horror director Mike Flanagan, known for Netflix hits such as Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House, will join its Warhammer 40,000 screen adaptations alongside producer and star Henry Cavill. The announcement, made in the company's annual financial report, addresses fan concerns about a lack of updates on the Cavill project and signals continued momentum for Games Workshop's expansion into television and film under its 2024 licensing deal with Amazon.

Flanagan is expected to begin scriptwriting soon, with production company United Artists also brought on board, though it remains unclear whether he will work on a film or series. Games Workshop also revealed it has nearly finished a Warhammer episode for Amazon's Secret Level anthology and has begun work on an animated series based on its Space Marine Deathwatch characters. The Nottingham-based firm reported record pre-tax profit of £275.7m, up 4.9%, despite a dip in video game licensing revenue, and said it paid around £12m in US tariffs while reclaiming £7.8m following a Supreme Court ruling; chief executive Kevin Rountree also reaffirmed the company's rejection of generative AI in its own product design.
