Barnsley Pride held a one-minute silence in memory of Ollie Lee, a 14-year-old from Barnsley who died in October 2024 after experiencing bullying. The tribute highlighted concerns about the impact of bullying, including abuse linked to a young person’s identity, and the need for stronger support and safeguarding.

Ollie, whose full name was Willow-Tarriss Shannon Lynette Lee, had reportedly faced repeated bullying at school, including homophobic and physical abuse. A later inquest heard that she had complex mental-health needs and that there had been missed opportunities for support, although the coroner said it could not be concluded that failures caused or contributed to her death.
