2nd Grade – “Cellophane Girls”

Stereogum · 4 hours ago

Philadelphia power-pop band 2nd Grade have announced they have signed to Lame-O Records, marking a new chapter for the group after two albums released on Double Double Whammy. The move was revealed alongside the release of a new single, "Cellophane Girls", which offers a first taste of the band's work under their new label.

Led by Peter Gill, who also plays guitar in Friendship, 2nd Grade features bandmates Catherine Dwyer, Lucas Knapp and Michael Cormier-O'Leary. Gill described "Cellophane Girls" as an attempt to compress a "six verse Bob Dylan ballad" into a two-and-a-half-minute pop song, calling it an open-ended tale about empathy and the difficulty of finding one's place in the world. The band's previous two records, Easy Listening (2022) and Scheduled Explosions (2024), were released via Double Double Whammy.
