Jim James Previews First Solo Album in Eight Years With Title Track ‘Wowed Out’
Musician Jim James has announced his fifth solo album, Wowed Out, due for release on 28 August, marking his first solo record in eight years. He has shared the hypnotic title track alongside a new music video, giving fans an early taste of the project ahead of the full release.
The album emerged from music James recorded years ago with composer Brian Reitzell for two early-2010s film-scoring projects, which he revisited and reworked last autumn. James produced the record himself, citing Alice Coltrane's spiritual recordings as an influence, and described wanting the songs to feel like a rewarding journey rather than building to a dramatic climax. The ten-track album follows his 2018 releases Uniform Distortion and Uniform Clarity, and James will mark its launch with a solo acoustic show in Park City, Utah, on 28 August, before a wider headline tour beginning in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on 28 November.
