Michael B. Jordan Says He ‘Can’t Wait’ to See David Jonsson as the Next Black Panther

IGN · 5 hours ago

Actor Michael B. Jordan has publicly endorsed David Jonsson's casting as the new Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expressing enthusiasm when asked about it on the red carpet. Jordan, who played the villain Erik Killmonger in the first two Black Panther films, is a longtime collaborator of director Ryan Coogler, having worked with him on Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther and Sinners. His comments add a notable show of support from within the franchise's inner circle to a casting decision that has already generated significant fan interest.

Jordan made the remarks to The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying simply "I love it… I can't wait, can't wait!" Jonsson, known for Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk, will play the son of T'Challa, following Coogler's earlier decision to hand the mantle to Shuri after Chadwick Boseman's death rather than recast T'Challa. Jonsson's casting was announced at San Diego Comic Con, and Black Panther 3 is scheduled for release in December 2028, though it remains unclear whether Jonsson will first appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
