Halo: Campaign Evolved PC Settings Guide

IGN · 1 day ago

IGN has published a PC settings guide for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the second remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which was built using Unreal Engine 5 rather than a bespoke in-house engine. While this allows the game to look stunning on high-end machines with strong lighting and environmental detail, it struggles to scale down to lower-end and older hardware, becoming visually poor once settings are reduced, unlike more flexible engines used in other recent releases such as Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert.

The guide notes that Halo: Campaign Evolved offers little room for fine-tuning performance, often requiring multiple settings changes at once to see any real effect, meaning players are generally better off switching graphics presets entirely rather than tweaking individual options. IGN tested an RTX 3090 as a stand-in for the recommended RTX 3080 Ti and found it matched the developer's chart prediction of 60fps at 4K on the High preset, with little performance change even after adjusting individual settings such as Effects Quality and Geometric Quality.

  • Halo: Campaign Evolved runs on Unreal Engine 5, unlike prior Halo titles.
  • The game scales poorly to lower-end hardware compared with rivals.
  • IGN recommends matching graphics presets to hardware rather than fine-tuning.
