Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has criticised the White House after its social media team used his song "American Cars" in a post marking Donald Trump's visit to General Motors. Kahan publicly objected on Instagram, saying he would never approve of his music being used to support Trump or his administration, prompting the White House to remove the track from its Instagram post, though it remained on the accompanying TikTok version.

Noah Levine, who co-wrote the song with Kahan, also responded critically to the post. The incident follows a similar row involving Katy Perry, who condemned the White House's use of her song "Firework" as backing music for TikTok footage of military strikes, calling it a "complete violation" of the song's intended message of hope and healing. Both cases highlight growing friction between musicians and the Trump administration over the unauthorised use of their work in official social media content.
