Clair Obscur Dev Still Interested In Switch 2 Port, But Admits It Would Be A “Big Technical Challenge”
Sandfall Interactive, the French studio behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has reaffirmed its interest in bringing the acclaimed role-playing game to Nintendo Switch 2, though it stopped short of confirming any official plans. Speaking to Automaton, studio figures acknowledged that adapting the Unreal Engine 5 title for Nintendo's console would be a significant technical undertaking, particularly given the studio's relatively small size and its reliance on external support during the original game's development.
CEO and creative director Guillaume Broche said it remains "too early" to announce anything concrete, while co-founder Tom Guillerman described a Switch 2 port as a "big technical challenge", noting that many features currently don't work on the hardware. However, lead artist Alan Reynaud pointed to emerging Unreal Engine updates, such as "Lumen Lite", which could ease the transition, meaning the team's next steps will depend on how these tools develop. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was praised as a must-play RPG upon its launch last year.
